The exhibition grows out of research on the dry bed of Lago Colhué Huapi, in Argentine Patagonia. Eighteen paintings on shaped stretchers, dedicated to flowers of the region, emerge from a performance-based approach to the territory, in which the artist observes, walks through, and records, and together they trace a system of singular forms that displaces the logic of the Argentine geometric avant-gardes. In the same vein, a photograph extends the gesture: the artist holds one of the paintings up in the desert, in a mirrored dialogue with Georgia O'Keeffe.
At the center of the room, a slanted plane interrupts circulation: on one side, a mirror in which the flowers are reflected; on the other, a screen with a video in which the landscape is walked through and activated in tension with a hybrid structure, part machine, part organism. The environmental crisis is thus approached as a space for collective reflection and for imagining possible futures.
